In this module we show you what a HumanCheck feels like from the other side, the few seconds your users actually spend with us.

## Try it yourself

  Run it exactly as one of your users would. It works on desktop or mobile.

What happens at each moment:

## Opening the check

* They arrive from the link you place in your signup, your app, or an email. See [Integration](/docs/verifications/integration)
* The check opens first, before your signup form, your checkout, or whatever you are protecting
* All it needs is a camera, so there is no document to find and nothing to fill in

## The scan

* A few seconds in the camera, with live prompts telling them what to do
* On a desktop it runs there with the webcam, and handing off to a phone by QR code is one optional click. See [Placing your check](/v3/dev/integrating/placing-your-check)
* You receive a verdict and never a photo

## Pass or fail

* Both outcomes are instant
* A pass goes straight through to whatever they came for, with nothing else to do
* A fail is a duplicate face, a replay, or a bot. They do not get through, and a new device or browser changes nothing, because we recognize the face

## When they come back

* On the same check, whether a second attempt is refused is yours to set in [configuration](/docs/verifications/configuration), from unlimited through to once in a lifetime
* On your other checks, we recognize them and you can wave them through with no scan at all
* Someone who comes back and passes without scanning still counts as a verification, since skipping the camera saves them friction rather than saving you verifications
